STABLE INFORMATION HISTORY OF THE LA FLEURS Growing up in Stoughton, WI, Dan and Marlene (Anderson) LaFleur bought their first horse farm on Highway 138 between Stoughton and Oregon in 1965. Marlene had horses all of her life and had shown Quarter Horses extensively along with her father Arnold. It was in 1963 that a customer sent Mr. Sandman, a Saddlebred, to Marlene for training, that the love for American Saddlebred began. Her first Saddlebred was Reserve World's Champion at Louisville.
During the early years of LaFleur Stables all breeds of horses were trained and exhibited by Marlene and Dan throughout
the Midwest. In 1977 Dan and Marlene relocated to Fond du Lac, WI to a more complete and elaborate horse facility
and at that time decided to specialize in the American Saddlebred. Marlene and Dan were a very successful team
throughout the Midwest. They have had 80 head of horses for customers that they trained, showed, and bred. They have influenced many people and taught thousands of people the proper way to ride, appreciate and respect the horse. Marlene and Dan have been involved with the State and National American Saddlebred Associations serving on the boards and also as officers. They have managed and been active in horse shows around the state. Marlene taught riding at several schools throughout Wisconsin reaching out to people of all disciplines.
They have devoted and dedicated their whole lives to the horses. Dan (a stock & commodity broker) and Marlene have 3
children, Trond, Liv, and Neva. Their interest, involvement and enthusiasm are just as evident today as throughout
their lives. They are very active with the horse show scene and at the barn. They participate and compete competitively
on a regular basis. The 4th generation of horse enthusiasts are the six grandchildren who compete in the horse shows.
In 1991 Neva, the youngest daughter of the La Fleur family, started training with Marlene. Neva was National Pleasure Equitation Champion as a young girl and has the interest and the talent to manage the business at the top level. Her two sons, Devon and Addam, also enjoy the horses and farm life. A dream came true in 2002 when LaFleur Stables moved into the new horse barn and arena that was designed by Marlene. It is a new millennium barn with all of the latest technology and conveniences. The barn is completed with skilled, talented and beautiful show horses owned by terrific, wonderful customers and clients. A large lesson program is in place offering only the best of instruction with an excellent staff. |
