It is the learning and perfecting of both the physical side of riding-balance, hand control, body position, foot position, stamina, strength, and the mental side which involves grace, poise, intellect and "feel" that is necessary for exacting the maximum possible performance from a horse. Saddlebreds are the most desired and most commonly used horses in the world for "Saddle Seat" equitation for several reasons: 1) Their conformation, with high head carriage and level top line create an excellent saddle seat position. 2) The Saddlebred moves in a balanced, precise, and stylish way that is a perfect complement to the rider. 3) Saddlebreds are responsive, intelligent, well mannered and game all qualities that maximize the skills of the rider. LaFleur Stables/Madison Riding Academy invites people 6 years old through adult to enjoy and participate in our lesson program. We offer all levels of riding and driving. Instruction will include:
Sarah McClintock joined the LaFleur team in October 2006 to head up the lesson and academy program. Sarah, born and raised in Wisconsin, started riding and showing horses as a child. Through her teenage years she was lucky enough to own two horses of her own. Growing, up she participated in 4-H and worked at a local stable as a trail guide and summer camp counselor. Sarah has been teaching saddle seat riding lessons for over 6 years. During that time she has taken many students from beginner to show ring competitor with ease and success. In addition to instructing, Sarah has contributed to the training of several world and regional champions."I love starting beginners and watching them develop into real riders. There is nothing more satisfying as a teacher than to watch a student triumph in the show ring. It’s such a good feeling when that student uses everything you’ve taught them and overcomes their weaknesses." Click Here for 2008 lesson dates and times. Families are Welcome |
